You Can Now Support Thrilling Tales on Patreon and Kofi

Hi all. This one of those rare housekeeping posts in which I talk about the goings-on of running this site. Apologies, but I will be quick!

First up — and most importantly — I’ve created two ways where readers like you can support Thrilling Tales of Old Video Games: Patreon and Kofi. If you’re familiar with those websites, that may be all you really need to know, but I’ll explain them below.

The new Patreon is for me, Drew Mackie, in general, and all creative efforts I will be embarking upon following the end of my podcast, Gayest Episode Ever. We are recording the final episode next week, and I will not be updating the show-specific Patreon further. For this site and all future solo projects, I will be directing people to this new personal Patreon, which for the foreseeable future will be focused on this site. I don’t have any rewards set up yet, and I’m actually soliciting ideas for what people might actually like. (Shirtless photos are not technically off the table!) But if you’d like to support me in general, I’d say go there — and at least check out this post, in which I discuss plans for the podcast component to Thrilling Tales, which I will be launching in 2027.

If you’re not sold on me as an all-around creator and would like to instead support Thrilling Tales specifically, then check out my new Kofi. You can make a one-time contribution of $3 or more, or you can do a monthly recurring payment at whatever rate you choose. I’m happy to accept whatever you think my worth is worth to you, honestly.

That’s the big stuff. I’ve really enjoyed growing this site the past four years, and I’m interested to see if I can justify doing more with it — writing more often and exploring ventures into other forms of media.

Elsewise, you may have noticed a change in how the site looks. I swapped the colors — I’m in a very blue and green mood, lately, which you might already know if you’re following my progress restoring my bathroom to its midcentury glory — and there’s also a dark mode toggle in the bottom left corner. I prefer dark mode, honestly, but some people have trouble reading light text on a dark background, and I am in favor of accessibility because I am not a dick.

Also, you can now copy images from this site. This change probably benefits me more than anyone, but for whatever reason the default setting on this site made it so that you couldn’t right-click an image to copy it. It was really annoying. Please know that it was not my intention to be annoying like that.

That’s it! If you have any ideas for other ways you think I could monetize my work, I’m all ears. And if you have suggestions for features on this site, I’m down to implement them.
